hit me
@ 12:40 am
Sorry for not posting for the past couple of days, Carrie hogged the internet in every spare moment. This week has been fun. On Monday Carrie, Mummy and I went to the National Gallery and I had Japanese class. Yesterday we went to Georgetown with Nick, Siobhan and Brittany. The stores there are so expensive!! I bought and Evangelion manga. It was really short, but the cover of it was my favourite picture of Shinji, so… We went to Urban Outfitters, Steve Madden, Diesal, Gap, FCUK and Banana Republic. I finished up the second roll of film from Otakon. It was fun even though it was depressing how much a name can sell for.
Carrie left for New York today and Nick is going to Paris. So everyone is leaving! Now I am just waiting for my Otakon pictures to be developed. Today I am going to the Montgomery County Fair with Chrissy and tomorrow I’m doing something with Katie. Next week the cousins are coming in from California and Boston and Kenya, so it’s not like the rest of the summer will be boring.

p.s. Otakon
@ 11:44 am
Okay, I’m counting on google here. If ANYONE took pictures of me in my DJ Lain costume at OTAKON (yes, I know only about five people did) I will love you forever if you could email them to me. I’m the dorky girl with the bear hat, yellow tanktop and baggy UFO pants with headphones on my neck. I am just curious to see them; I don’t think I’m on A Fan’s View. I wish there was an easier way to get in contact with the strangers who took photos.

Otakon
@ 10:46 am
SO, Otakon was fun. I liked seeing everyone from online again, being in the convention environment. I ran into a lot of people I knew there — Devanne was cosplaying as some catgirl wearing practically nothing, and Joan, Maya’s friend who lives in Baltimore, was there with her mother. It was really great to see Maki, we seem to get along a lot better offline. Hehe. The only bad thing is that I don’t think Carrie had much fun staying with me and my mom. She seemed like she would have much rather preferred to stay with Nick and Siobhan the whole time, and she didn’t talk to me much. I guess I’m not as interesting/exciting as them.. Oh well, I hope she isn’t that bored for the rest of the stay at our house, despite me and my mom. On Tuesday she and Nick and Siobhan and Brittany are going shopping in Georgetown. I’m going to, but I don’t really think I’ll be welcome. pleh.

what a day
@ 10:32 pm
I went down to see Nick and Siobhan today. We mostly browsed Springfield Mall. I bought a hair extension for my Lain costume and they bought last minute accessories for theirs — fake eyelashes and big yellow glasses that will work as goggles. Then we ate pretzels and hot dogs (I tried to give Nick my speech about what goes into hot dogs but I didn’t really want to ruin his lunch ^^;) and played video games. First Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag and then this bizarre four player team game called Gauntlet Legends. We got a bit into it and kept feeding tokens and kicking mummy butt for almost an hour. After that, Siobhan’s mother came to pick us up. We were surprised to find out that BRITTANY was already there for Otakon!!!!! So she came too. Siobhan’s mom was really nice, she’s funny and she kept trying to talk to me. A losing battle, but it was really nice of her. It was cool to see Brittany again although her little brother is a monster. And I got a preview of their costumes and coughcough interpretational dance. We didn’t do much there, come to think of it, except watch J-POP videos, brush the wigs and avoid Brittany’s little brother. Oh well. Fun.

posting from Siobhan’s house
@ 5:35 pm
I am posting from Siobhan’s house just because of the thrill of it. Heheh. Her room is nice, she has lots of posters. We also got a hair extension but I need a hairnet or something to attatch it to. And bangs….I’ll work on it.

English weather
@ 10:28 pm
I was going to see Nick and Siobhan today to try to find hair stuff for Otakon, but Nick didn’t know about the plans and slept for a long time, and Siobhan’s dad went to Costco. Such is life. It was raining, anyway. I hope we can get together next week, maybe then we won’t plan it last minute.
Maya and her family came over to dinner tonight. At first she made ample use of our scanner and scanned in a ton of pictures she’d taken, while I worked on her hair. The dreads in the front look great, but the back is falling apart. There was one section which actually hadn’t been dreaded yet, so I worked on that and made a few other dreads in the back tighter. On Wednesday she leaves for Peru to do some community service project with a bunch of other teenagers. But she has to pay to do it. The next step up in philanthropy: pay to get a chance to help someone else. Well, it’s better than no help at all.
Anyway, since she was using the scanner so much I didn’t get a chance to show her Waffle, the laptop. So after dinner I got a brainwave: move the scanner to my bedroom! Afterall, there is no USB port on the desktop since it is kind of dated (or maybe it’s already being used?) so the scanner was hooked up through a reeeally slow parallel port. Unfortuantely, that’s what the printer uses to, so the printer had to be hooked up to the scanner. This made the printer do weird stuff and react slowly since it had to recieve messages through the scanner.Anyway. It just made sense to move it. So we unhooked it from the desktop and re-plugged the printer into the parallel port. Then I realized it the laptop had a USB port, so we might as well use that. So Maya had to pull down the ladder to the attack and I went up there and poked around for the scanner box. I was not having much success so then Maya came up after me and found it in a second. We got the cord and after a ridiculous period of searching the laptop for the where the USB port was (there are only four sides, who knew it could be that hard?) I finally plugged it in. Then we had to decide where to put it. I have never noticed how long the scanner in before. After trying various positions under my desk, on top of a plastic filing box, etc. the scanner ended up (where else?) on the floor. It’s underneath my desk so it’s nice and hidden, I just have to pull it a little to the side to open it wide.
