I’m going to try to keep a record of every weekend here this summer. Based on my Toast-posting track record, it will be a real feat if I pull it off!

Weekend 3 I caught the Caltrain to Palo Alto, met up with Brittney and then drove to a beach in Santa Cruz. My back got big time sun burned, for the first time in my life.

Last weekend I biked outside of Soma for the first time, taking the Wiggle to Golden Gate Park. I kept going until it got foggy and cold and then turned around.

On my return journey I made one of my greatest discoveries so far. If I turn my phone’s external speaker all the way up and put it in the pocket of my backpack that is directly below the nape of my neck, I can listen to music while biking without headphones!! Living the dream.

I found a place to live in San Francisco

I flew back from San Diego

I had dinner with 20 other people at Sava’s

I went to Kathryn’s talk on the rising costs of textbooks

I determined that it will be cheaper and easier to buy a used bike in San Francisco and sell it at the end of the summer than to try and bring my bike here on the plan or ship it.

Against all odds I found a subletter.

I also found someone to take the last room open in our house for next year.

The only downside is that my subletter has already moved in, so I am semi-homeless for the next week and I still need to pack all of my stuff and store it. Luckily it looks like one of my roommates is not going to be around much, so I am crashing in her room for now. Also, it will be a good opportunity to go through all things and see what I can get rid of.

I went to KFC with 6 guys and we all ordered Double Downs, which I had not heard of before today. Amazingly, I did not feel sick after eating mine.

I spend at least an hour or two in the Ugli almost every day. I realized I have gotten completely used to people openly eating and talking within the library – not just in the lobby and cafe, but right next to the stacks.

I wonder if it was always like this in the the Ugli, or if it is as recent development. Although I didn’t spend very much time in them, I always got the impression that the the Rock and Gelman were super quiet food-free spaces.

Interestingly, the one thing I don’t see a lot is people napping, which I both observed and partook in both the Rock and the SciLi. I am 98% sure it is because there are few if any couches here. It’s all blocky wooden chairs and tables.
